Surbiton Children’s Center Nursery

England

Surbiton Hill Nursery School opened in 1971. This year 2021/2022 we celebrate 50 golden years of the Nursery School in the Surbiton community!

Our Nursery is the only maintained nursery school within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Local Authority. We were graded as OUTSTANDING by Ofsted for the fifth time in January 2020. This means our Nursery has been graded as outstanding for more than 20 years!

We are in essence an outdoor Nursery with a beautiful and exciting outdoor space for the children to learn and thrive in. We follow the forest school principles in all we do and have daily opportunities for the children to extend their skills in all weathers celebrating the seasonal approach to the curriculum and being led by the interests of the children themselves.

We offer Outstanding education and care as a part of the 15 hours universal offer for three and four year old’s. This is term time only.

We also offer additional hours as a part of “30 hours for working parents” both term time and year round. We also offer paid places and we are open 49 weeks of the year 8am-6pm for working parents.

We have a specialist provision for children with Social Communication difficulties, there are 18 places for this specialist provision and they are allocated by the Local Authority.

We offer 15 hours of education for two year old’s who meet the eligibilty criteria.

We also offer some paid places for two year old’s term time only.

Every Child, Every Chance, Every day

Every child will make progress and become curious and purposeful learners.

Every child will enjoy a rich and stimulating environment, where all children and families feel included, secure and valued.

We recognise that play is the most powerful medium for learning in the early years and to provide rich and stimulating first hand experiences.

Every child will be celebrated and our curriculum will build on what children already know and can do.

Every child will be encouraged to develop a positive attitude and disposition to learn.

We aim to establish trusting relationships to enable effective partnerships between staff, parents and carers to develop the child’s full potential.
